I accumulated several RF/Sako bases over the last couple weeks (Thanks Jason) & noticed that all early Redfield bases for Sako's are not the same.
I hope this might save someone from a mis-match.
All sets are for the short actions except the last set.

From the top:

Back row - Tall set, squared sides no radius, no set screws.
Next row - Standard height, squared sides, no set screws.
Third and fourth row - Standard height, radiused sides with set screws.
Front - Same front base and radius, rear is for longer dovetail, possibly for a long action like L-61.

I have a bunch of those, the dovetails are not tapered, so Im guessing they are for the Brno double square bridge mod 21 and 22 Mauser G33-44 knock off actions.

Custombolt......

You might want to check a few of the front bases WITHOUT the anchor screw.

That's because some years ago Redfield reversed the taper on the base bottom. That puts the "D" opening at the back of the base........NOT good for short Sako actions.

What it does achieve......is now "one size fits all"......or at least Redfield thought so. Welcome to modern times!

Hope this helps.

Well, I'll be darned. Nice catch KG. The thick ones I have here are the opposite taper than the others. Those have a plain R stamped on the sidewall of the front base.
Another difference is that the no radius, no screw standard height have a R within a scope crosshair stamped on the side. All others have nothing stamped on the side.

An more streamlined factual update will follow eventually.
Thanks.

Burris also made very similar bases for the Sako STD. Can't see the markings in the photos, but some of those might be Burris.

They are almost twins. The Burris I've seen had sharp corners on the sides and Burris impressed on one side. Burris lock screws went straight down unlike the Redfields that were canted. All of the above have the same font size & SDT on the underside. The Burris I looked at has no underside marking.
