I have a real nice Mauser 98 bolt with straight bolt handle and a bolt handle, which is very similar (almost exact) to the discontinued Leonard Brownell bolt handle. The bolt handle is polished but could use some freshening up. It has a solid knob and not the hollow bolt knob that the later rough cast Leonard Brownell handles had.

All of my local gunsmith buddies have sold all of their jigs and forging blocks and quit messing with them. It has been a longtime since I did one and don't feel like experimenting / possibly ruining this handle.

I had a pretty productive day today otherwise. I decided to put on and fit up my small brown Pachmayer Decelerator pad to my birdseye maple stock and then went ahead and finished inletting it and it turned out pretty nice. I need to get the bottom metal blued and the bolt handle done and that will finish the metal work. The gun is a Mauser Standard Modell in 8mm Mauser.

I have a Kar 98a small ring 98 project in the early stages. It will be a 257 Roberts in an old Oberndorf toothpick style stock with raised comb and side panels. I have a toothpic stock without raised side panels and standard comb that I was going to use until my friend showed me the aforementioned pattern he had. My stock is too shallow and will require a bunch of work to reduce the bottom metal by at least 1/16th inch to keep it from hanging out the bottom. I may get military bottom metal for it and fit it up for a future project.

There are many competent and talented people on this website who can weld on a bolt handle, Dans40XC, dpcd, Roger Ferrel, Jim Wisner to name but a few.
