Gunsmith needed
I recently bought a fairly old double trigger 410sxs that has a side latch allowing it to fold in half. Its a really fun gun to shoot. So I am thinking of having it reblued and the wood refinished.

Not looking for a top of line reblueing and wood job. The metal has a layer of what looks like rust dust almost rust blued looking.

Would you recommend a trustworthy smith to do a reasonable blue/wood job?

I am located in East Texas so if know of a smith around here or DFW that would be a plus.

Thanks
DC

Call David at 2nd Amendment gun repair. He worked for, and took over from Mel Doyle who blued guns for everyone in the northwest for 40 years or more in Plummer, Idaho.

He will do rust blue, which as jeffeosso said, is needed on doubles because the barrels are soft soldered.

Some old doubles were browned and not blued. Pull the handguard and check the color there on the barrels. Can you determine if the receiver was case colored or was it browned/blued?

You do realize that a restoration will cost about 8 times what the shotgun is worth....
