I have a tupperware stock, on a .338 Win. mag. How tight (inch Lbs) should I tighten the front and back blots? I belive the stock is a Ramline, and the action is a Mauser 98 (VZ 24) Thanks Live every day like it was your last, because someday it will be!!!

DLH4570, I do not if this applies to all (or most) synthetic stocks but Weatherby recommends 50 to 55 inch pounds. They say to tighten the rear screw first, using a torque screwdriver, to 30 inch pounds then the front screw to 30 inch pounds then back to the rear screw for the final torquing. I think this applies to the Fibermark and Accurmark stocks. You can find this on Weatherby's website under FAQ's. Jim NRA member

The problem you are going to run into if you use a torque wrench on a stock with less than solid support for the action and bottom metal is getting a repeatable seat. Torque wrenches are best used on guns with something solid to torque against, without give, something like pillars, or, the solid bedding block design of the HS Precision variety. In this shop I tighten all others by hand. And I get them tight. Not eye bulging tight, but tight. And FWIW, the Ramline is a little better grade stock than the true Tupperware types. Hand tight. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. I asked my smith, Bobby Hart, how tight to make the action screws on my Rem 700 LA, skim bedded in my H-S Precision stock, and he said he does it by feel. He does it for a living, I don't. When pinned down for a number, he recommended 65 in/lbs.
