Cleaning rusty/dirty springs can be a chore. Here is an easy way to quickly bring them back shiny. Take your rusty/dirty spring and slip it over a length of all thread rod or any length of metal rod that will pass through the middle. Place your thumbnails against each end of the spring and press it into the wire wheel. The wire wheel will catch the spring and spin it. By moving side to side the length of the spring you can thoroughly brush it in seconds. The all thread edges will scrape the the insides.
