Hi guys,

I have just come into possession of a rather beaten up example of the above rifle for general range and bunny duties.

Considering I got it for a £145 and yesterday at Shorts it was consistently producing 1 1/2" -2" at 100 yards with a changeable wind I am happy with it's accuracy.

I put perhaps 100 RWS standard velocity cartridges through it and tried magtec as well, It seems to prefer the RWS geco stuff.

The first question is does anyone have one of these and if so I should be obliged if you let me know what sort of ammo it prefers?

The second question is regarding the trigger, does anyone know how to adjust it? The let off is very good considering but I feel it should be a touch lighter; it is now at perhaps 2-3 lbs.

The third question is that it occasionally de-cocks itself when the bolt is closed and you have to raise and lower the bolt handle to re-cock it. I assume this caused by dirt or stickiness in the action, has anyone experienced this and is a good clean in the ultrasonic the way or something more involved?

Thanks,

GH

My 1411 and other various models of Anchutz target rifles I've owned seem to shoot most everything fairly well. The cheap stuff has larger groups (still good enough for general shooting) and flyers. The higher quality HV and HP ammo also has larger groups. Standard velocity better and the match ammo the best in terms of group size. RWS, Eley, Federal match all shot very well.
One thing that was fairly consistent. When you changed brands or type of ammo, it took a number of shots before the groups settled down again.
I would next jump to your third question. I would do a very thorough cleaning of the entire firearm. Particular emphasis on the trigger and bolt. De-cocking on bolt closing is a good indicator that the sear is not holding or not popping back into proper position. Most likely culprit dirt or gummy old lube. The first thing is clean, clean, clean everything then lubricate. Neil Johnson put me on to TSI 301 years ago as a lubricant, but I would imagine any of the very light new era compounds would work. Before I did anything in terms of adjustment get everything clean.
I don't have anything handy describing trigger adjustment but I think that manuals are available for download from Anschutz.
Good luck

I came by an Annie once. It shot crap! Someone had 'reworked' the crown. I fixed that and it went to one holers at 25m. Just a thought - you say it is pretty beat up.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a good going over with degreaser and see if it still decocks.

If so i'll give it back to the guy who sold to me and try another rifle.

Eventually I may buy new but second hand guns are so much fun!

Regards,

GH
