Will a muzzlebrake made for a larger calibre work acceptably on a smaller calibre? I recently acquired a brake for a 358 rifle which I am thinking of installing on 308 rifle. One person at my gunclub thinks this will work fine, another thinks there is an optimum space between the diameter of the bullet and the diameter of the exit hole in the muzzlebrake. The latter person believes that the difference between the 358 and the 308 openings will lead to poor accuracy. Does anyone know for sure or have experience in these matters? Thanks.

the difference in exit bore size won't affect accuracy IMO,..but it will reduce the effectiveness of the break with respect to recoil reduction.

I don't know about the accuracy question (I think it would vary from rifle to rifle) but I doubt that the brake would work as efficiently as one properly sized for the bore. FWIW - Dan
