Just took shipment of the beast. P-14 Enfield, with Douglas barrel. Dave at IT&D did his usual superb work. He recontoured the rear bridge, including welding up the hole, to FN Mauser specs. He also fitted a P-17 extractor, lengthened the mag box (also P-17), and opened the rails. I really need to polish the bolt raceway -- pretty sticky -- but it looks like it will feed and extract well. It holds four in the mag, and the bolt will close on a fifth. I had planned on raking the bolt handle down and back, but he brought it straight down and a little out, like a Sig Magnum Mauser, which I like much better. The bolt lock was retained. The Dakota quarter rib (#5) fit perfectly as several here said it would. The barrel was a 5A, recontoured to a 5. I'm hoping to have it in the stock by this weekend, and polished / express blued shortly thereafter. Then I will post some pics. Best, Todd

Can someone explain to me the main difference between the P-14 and P-17? I have two 1917's, one is a 35whelen AI and the other is my .458 which is in the shop right now waiting for sling swivels and bluing. I love the 1917 actions and am always looking for them for future projects. I have seen p14's but wasn't sure what the difference was. thanks. Red
