HP ShooterUsing 30-06 brass in an 8X60S rifle
Does the bolt need any modifications, since the rim diameter of the 30-06 is .473" and that of the 8X60 is .470"?

jeffeossoHP.
i doubt the bolt would be the issue, rather then chamber...
.003 thickness is less than a sheet of paper, but might not swage down...

StonecreekThe .30-06 and 8x60 have the same nominal head diameter. You will find them listed variously as running from .468" to .475" or so, with most specification calling for .470" to .473". There will be more variation in the actual chambers from one gun to another than the .003" variation in specs. Use '06 brass in your 8x60 with confidence.
An '06 bolt face will usually even accept a 6.5x55 Swede without alteration, even though the Swede is speced at .480" in most references.

HP ShooterThanks guys. Now rifles chambered in 8X60 look a whole lot more attractive.
Man, I love these obscure European calibers...
