I have a remington 760 3006 that belonged to my Dad and was wanting to refinish the stock and reblue the gun.I just can't seem to get the forearm or the barrel off. Anyone know how? Please help!

Pull the slide all the way back. Once you have done this you will see a hole in the action tube assembly (what would be the mag tube on an 870 shotgun). You have to find something made of steel that will fit in this hole and then you use it to turn the action tube counter clockwise to unscrew it from the barrel bracket bolt on the receiver. There is a bushing on the action tube assembly and you have to make note of its EXACT placement and be sure to get it in that position when reassembling. Once you have unscrewed the action tube and removed it you can then remove the barrel, the action bar assembly, the bolt, and when you remove those parts the ejection port cover will fall out. Again...it is VERY important to return the action tube bushing to the EXACT spot that it was when removed. You can also go to Remington’s web site and download an owners manual and parts list for this rifle.

One minor addition to Ricks post. Becareful how you handle the bolt. There are 2 little 'bolt cam pins' that usually fall out when you least expect it. Don't lose these or you will hate yourself. If you feel the need, take a digital picture of each component BEFORE you remove it so you will have something to refer back to should you need it.
