Wasn't sure which heading to place this under. Just got my first Savage rifle and Sharp Shooter Supply catalog. I was under the impression this catalog was a must have. Anyway, I'd like to install a *two piece* tapered base on the rifle and wonder who makes 'em? According to Ken Farrell, he only makes the one piece base and I've seen the Nightforce two piece, any others out there for the Savage long action (old style action)? Thanks for any help that can be provided. -Rick [ 05-28-2003, 11:51: Message edited by: rduncan ]

Never heard of tapered 2-piece bases, don't know why you'ld need them. Just use the Burris Signature rings with the inserts. They'll line up perfect with no reaming. If the inserts don't give you enough lift, just shim the rear base. The inserts will tilt to compensate.

SavageShooter- You ever get out to shoot the 1,000 yard BR or 200-1,000 yard Tactical matches at the Sac. Valley Shooting Center? As far as the bases are concerned, I gotta put bases on the rifle anyway, might as well increase the scope elevation with the bases. I do use the Burris Sig. Zee rings almost exclusively, they're great rings. -Rick

Hi rduncan, never shot there. I've been there to observe a BR match though. Nice facilities! I usually shoot at the Lincoln Rifle Club. Their range goes to 300yds, and I really havn't got that distance to the accuracy I want yet. I only shoot handguns for the most part. My Savage is a Stryker.
