I ask this purely out of curiousity.

Have heard the Commercial Kurz actions are rare and expensive.

And just wondered, how much one would cost if it could be found?

Allen

It's a Mauser thing, you wouldn't understand.

I understand there's a 10% discount if "kurz" is spelled correctly.

Sorry, couldn't resist, good luck in your search.

Depends on where you find it..

A Kurz-mauser..original... have I seen being sold overhere for aprox $1000-1200 just a few years back..(I got too late for that one)..

Reimer Johannesen in Neumünster charges the same price for a Kurzaction as for a Magnumaction..so think about that Wink

FWIW, I paid $650 for mine which was a complete rifle in 250 Savage with a good barrel a very nice stock and a vintage German scope. But the action itself has less than expert modifications and the original bottom metal was modified from set triggers configuration to single trigger. Every time I look at it I wish that it was all original...

Most of the ones I've seen started around $4K and went up.

Wow 4K and up. now that is pricey!
I'm not looking for one. I had read that they were pricey, Just was wondering how price.

They look like neat little actions. It's a shame they are so costly.

Money getting in the way? There is alway's a CD mini mauser! I know it sounds goofy, but I have seen some VERY nice builds off this action. I have one sitting at Shane Thompsons right now that's getting the works, new bolt handle, 3 pos-safety, custom bases & bottom metal, etc and I'm about to start pestering the hell out of him to finish it too

What size cartridge would be most suitable to use a Kurz Mauser for?

8X51 or a 250 Savage were the classic chamberings. Cartridge LOA is limited to about 68 mm.

You could always have a slice taken out of a regular 98 and have a sort of Kurz action for a lot less than 4 grand. Or, if it didn't have to be a mauser, you could have somebody redo the bolt head on a WSSM to take a regular cartridge like the 250 savage. Those are really nice little actions as well.
