Getting low on Brownells Classic Rust Blue. Web site says out of stock.

Plinkingtons has disappeared.

Anything else out there?

Or do I have to order nitric acid and hydrochloric acid and brew my own?

Laurel Mountain Rust Brown works great for a
Cold (slow) Rust Blue,,just boil of course.

For an Express Rust Blue, Mark Lee's Express Rust Blue has worked for me.

I've used both for the last 40yrs, maybe more in my full time business. Likely before that as a part time shop.

SalAmmoniac solution is very simple and works well for a Cold/Slow Rust Blue.

Sold and used as Soft Solder Flux for tinning. It comes in a small 'soap bar' type wrapped package usually.
Welding supply places usually have it or the Almighty Net can supply it easily enough.

It's fairly soft. Take a knife and shave off some pieces and just disolve it in plain water to make a soln.

Use that soln at room temp as your Rusting Solution for the Cold Rust Process as you would any other.

Sal Ammoniac is chemically Ammonium Chloride.
It rusts steel very well! as will the fumes from it if you use it for soft soldering.

Bobsters solutions has a great many followers.

Definite vote for Bobster's stuff.
I steam; no need to boil gallons of water to boil any more; one quart.

Steam; then you only need to boil one quart of water and it doesn't matter where you get it. Look on Bobster's site and you will see it in action.
Bottled water; that is not the same as distilled water and contains all kinds of minerals...
