Gong to do another CZ 550, have one coming in 375 H&H. The last CZ I did was on Mike Kokolus's pattern. I posted a pic of it in the big bore section a while back. Its not a bad pattern but not crazy about the cheek piece. I can always build a pattern from the factory stock (its an americam), but figured there's a few 550 patterns around. Brockmans pattern looks to have to much drop, but I like the cheek piece and grip. I havent checked with Dennis Olson yet, but will.

Just wondering who's pattern some you guys used or may have your own etc.

Looking for comments, Thanks, Billy

Billy,
Your best shot is to make one from the old stock. Use bondo, blocks of wood, or what-have-you to mold it to what suits you personally. You will always be fighting what someone else considers a "perfect" stock if you use theirs.

i'm assuming by "patterns" you're talking external style and who offers inletting for the cz's. richards micro-fit does, great american gunstocks does, and almost certain wenig's and royal arms both do. they might say "ZKK" but i think the inletting for one is adaptable for the other.

Chic,

Thats probably what I will do, I've only made one pattern, but it came out pretty good, made a mdl 70 for Sunny-Hill drop box bottom metal

I just did one on the perfect CZ pattern and the differnet angle of the bottom metal make fitting the mag box a pain in the ass.

Probably will make a pattern after thinking about it.

Billy,
Glass your action and bottom metal into the pattern and send it to somenone who knows his ass from a hole in the ground and you will get a stock back that you can inlet in 2 hours with a coffee break in the middle. How is that for a run on sentence.

Chic,

I think its a great run on sentence. I've just about finished inletting a stock on a pattern I made, in fact I just walked away from it. I have to admit, working from your own pattern is the only way to go. This was the first I've done on a pattern I made. If I would have worked on it yesterday, I would have never made this post about looking for a pattern. The light bulb came on.

Bill already told me to quit worrying about it and make a pattern.

Billy, call Don Dobbratz at 361-573-3988, he lives near you. I don't think he has a CZ magnum pattern but he can sure make one from your factory stock, and he can turn a blank as well as the best.
