if someone where interested in some gunsmithing classes, courses or certificates. what places are recommended? is nra cert. good/bad/indifferent? is there a way to do the bookwork online or at home? thanks, nate

I think the Brownells catalog has a section on that. If you don't have a Brownells catalog you need one anyway.

Having been to four "NRA" gunsmithing courses at Trinidad State College in Colorado, I can heartly recommend them. the instruction is hands on by the instructors with some advanced students helping out. To the best of my knowledge they do not offer any correspondence courses. If you are interested, call Keith Gibson (he is the head honcho at the gunsmithing school) and tell him that HOOT sent you. No, you won't get a break on the cost, but they are very reasonable. You can even stay in a dorm room and eat at the school for a small fee.
