How do you get the magazine catch spring pin out of the trigger guard? I have tried to tap it out with a punch but I am afaid to over do thr force. Any help would be appreciated. i am also looking for a 6mm-25 cal or 6.5 cal barrel for a 1909 Argentine Mauser.

Thanks,

Hairy

Hit it harder. A larger hammer works better than trying to beat the crap out of it with a smaller one. Use a starter punch instead of a pin punch. A starter punch has a short, tapered tip so that it won't bend or break. You also need to place the guard on a bench block, wood or hard rubber, with a hole behind the pin you are trying to remove. You want to apply the momentum of the hammer blow to the pin, not to pushing the guard around.

It also helps if you depress the catch to take the spring pressure off the pin.

If you depress the catch, you will put more pressure on it!
