Does anyone here know what became of Cascade Arms. They used to make a nice little small bolt action [with a Mauser extractor if I recall]. Are they still in business. I have a phone number for them and intend to call on Monday. Have not seen any advertizing from them for quite a while.
As far as I know Butch is still building rifles but I think one guy in PA is buying all his production or at least a major part of it. Quality is super. He was one of the old Kimber rifle boy along with Dan Cooper.
My friend has one, a Mannlicher-stocked .250/3000. He bought it from the "guy in PA.", located near the Lenox exit from I81, who, I understand, is able to get one or two guns every year to 18 months. "Cascade Arms" is apparently one person, who makes a gun when the spirit moves him, rather than a company with a production schedule. The one I've seen is probably the nicest small bolt-action rifle I've ever touched. Too bad they're so hard to get!!!
I had a little Ruger M77 mannlicher-stocked rifle in 250 Savage... I love that little round! I'd think a Cascade Arms rifle so-styled would be wonderful... I want one! Question is, how and where?!?
OK Chic, now you're conspiring with my wife, huh... that's not playing fair!
I looked into the Cascade route today... $3,300... yikes! I think I'd sooner rustle-up a mini-mauser action, barrel it and have you do the stock... one of these days anyway!
Try Tom Thomas at The Outdoorsman in Kingsley PA. Rt. 81 Exit 64... Heis the one that will have the most Cascades. I sold him some of my rare Kimber collection years ago.
HARRY is correct--I had forgotten Thomas's business name (THE OUTDOORSMAN). He is indeed at (OLD) Exit 64 off of I81 in northern PA. PA has just renumbered all their Interstate Highway exits to coincide with mile markers, so I don't know what Exit 64 has become. They did this no doubt to confuse all of us who used to know where things were...The +- $3300 price tag for one of these rifles is reasonable, considering hwhat you get. The quality and uniqueness is worth every penny. But, they are so nice, I'd hesitate to take one out in the woods!!
