Just returned from a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise. Paid $16 a day for internet access. When I tried to get on www.rustblue.com I was blocked due to "inappropriate content". Same thing with this site and others. Damn long cruise. At least Vicki had her Facebook and Twitter.

several places I stay block content... I go around it by doing a "bing" search for the website, and let the link that opens during the search take me to the desired website...it may work that way for you too...

We were on an island on the Maldives, and AR was blocked.

I called The IT department and was told it was blocked because it is inappropriate!

I told them if it was not accessible in one hour all of us are leaving in the morning.
Half an hour later the manger called and apologized and we got through!

Bobster,
I would have thrown a very professional "fit"! Who are they to determine what is appropriate, if I'm a paying customer I should have access to a professional website. I'll bet others around you were able to surf the web for porn or "adult content" vid games.

"It's inappropriate" ranks right up there with "it's our policy"

Most filters key on the URL name you enter in the URL field.

Next time, use the IP address of whatever web site you're trying to reach.

If you're on a Windows device:
Hit the 'Windows' key and 'R' simultaneously.
Type cmd and hit enter.
In the command window, type ping followed by the web site name - for example, ping accuratereloading.com

The command will return the IP address 216.25.106.121

Copy that address into the URL field of your browser and hit enter.

I used to work at Universal Propulsion, we made rocket motors, ejection seats and other aerospace stuff that went bang. For a while we were owned by Goodrich. The corporate server had the company website blocked because it had the word explosives, it was what we made! It also blocked supplier sites. Our IT guy was OK so he unblocked the computers in the R&D area, we had to promise not to "look at naughty things".

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall as the resort manager explained to the IT manager that if Saeed wanted access, then it had better happen sooner rather than later.

GeorgeS thanks for your information for accessing IP addy also.

Our IT department blocked everything "inappropriate" until I called the COO and told him to order me some cigars from his computer because I couldn't.

All the filters were removed that day.

I forgot until reading this but I've noticed McAfee tags Duane website. Likely anti-gunners at McAfee?

or the heck of it, brought this to my website manager's attention.

Got an immediate "automated response" from Mc Afee saying there was no set time to respond...

I would be pissed. I knew better when I first saw it and entered your site anyway. Some may spooked away from it.

Guess what? it's unblocked! Gotta admit that was pretty quick action on the part of Mc Afee.

My computer "fixer" says it may not have initiated from Mc Afee, since their site is easily hacked.

My past catching up maybe?

It is. I have a love/hate relationship with technology as it is.
