This might help the fellow trying to remove the Mauser barrel. With the proper barrel blocks, it just don't move! Home Made Barrel Vise......This is a very simple 6 Ton barrel vise that can be made from material available at the Home Depot. A couple of 3/4" X 12" bolts and a few pieces of 1/4" angle iron and two springs are all that is needed.
Barrel blocks are made with a piece of bored out steel 2" X 2" steel stock and using Brownell's Steel Bed to fit barrel contour.
