Hello to all forum members,

I am a new user. I have been kicking the issue around for a while and have posted on some other forums but am particularly interested in what I may read on this one; currently building a father/son pair of matched rifles in 375 H & H. As I am a LH shooter and he is a RH shooter our search has become a tad more challenging for actions.

Sjo, the question I am posting relates to what is already a lively discussion topic as far as I can tell, that is, I seek opinions on the following actions as well as arguments in favor of or against the following:

GMA (5 month turnaround I am told)

Waffenfabrik Hein (worth a year's wait?)

CZ (if they ever produce the 550 in LH)

Winchester (Dad has a pre 64 and I suppose I could find a Classic with a .532 bolt face and we could have lnew bottom metal created as well as a magnum length magazine box)

I am intrigued by the GMA and the Hein as I am sure most might be...

Copy and re-post this in the Gunsmithing forum. You'll probably get more replies there.

Another question is whether you want Mauser (GMA Or at some point in the future Hein)or Model 70 (Hein) or crossbreed (CZ). I think that if you have a good guy build the rifle any would work fine, but one might suit your idea of a proper rifle better than the others or do better for you when it comes time to sell it. For a 375 H&H I'd be inclined to go with Hein, GMA, or Satterlee Mauser, Not for any other reason than it strikes me as a very traditional choice in that caliber. But to show you what a hippocrate I am I took a pre '64 70 in 375 on my last hunt.

They will all work, as will, dare it say it, remmington, but if it were me I'd go with winchester. You should be able to find one relatively easily. If you need someom
ne to build it, finding a gunsmith who works on model 70's should also be a piece of cake.
My 2 cents.

Depends whether the .375 is your idea of a dangerous game stopping rifle. If not, why not give some thought to a single shot pair of whatever persuasion to keep things simple. Ruger No. 1, right on through to as much as you want to spend, and as long as you want to wait. Or buy the rugers and use those until your ideal pair is born.
