Which bore guides are the best for rifle cleaning? Are they all about the same? I've seen some universal ones and also ones that are designed for a specific range..... .27 to .30 for instance. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.

I use J. Dewey bore guides, have to match the guides to the different cal and action make. Have not found them lacking. Use on all my rifles, hopefully saving the bore from scratches.

Eric Sinclair at Possum Hollow makes caliber specific bore guides with o-rings in the chamber to prevent solvents dripping back into the action. I like them. I also use the Dewey bore guides which also work just fine. I do however like the nice fit of the Possum Hollow guides. See the thread on looking for a bore guide for a .458, contacts and numbers are given. For my 6.5 I use a drilled out 22rimfire magnum case and a 22 cleaning rod. Similar case and rod combinations for other calibers.

The Sinclair Delrin bore guides work pretty well. They are gun and caliber specific. If you want something better, look at the bore guides Mike Lucas makes, they are excellent! These are also specific to the gun (inside receiver diameter, actually) as well as the caliber. On top of that, they will be provided with an insert matching the diameter of your cleaning rod. www.6mmbr.com Mike Lucas Article with Contact Information - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon...
