Banner Mauser build
While David Christman and Mark Stratton work on my new 7x57 on a Mexican receiver, I will work on the Banner with a little help. Jim Kobe is doing a 4 panel bolt handle and installing an Ed Lapour safety. I have a Blackburn trigger on order. I found a lightweight barrel in my barrel box with a full rib and nice iron sights. It is out to Jim Dubel to reline and become a 9.3x62. It was chambered in 7.9 something and I believe it says Jaeger on it. It was off another Model 98. I will use a piece of walnut from Chiron that I bought a long time ago for my Lott and didn't use. I need to order bottom metal. Have I covered everything?

Sounds like a fun project thumb The 9.3x62 is a superb cartridge. I will be looking forward to a full update and pics as it progresses.

Butch,
sounds like an amazng project... the only thing I would change would be the wood. I LOVE murat's turkish walnut... but it sounds like you are building a lightweight rifle, and well, the turkish will be denser than black (genereally) and certainly heavier than claro.
it i was going to build a lightweight, i would seriously look at claro, and probably without much fiddleback/mineral streaking... as minerals ARE denser than water or wood...

anywho, sounds excellent!
