I picked up a pre-64 model 70 that someone previously rechambered to .222 Remington. They removed the factory Hornet followe, spring and box and replaced with a new spring. Actually shoots pretty well, but will not consistently feed .222 from the magazine. Can someone recommend a gunsmith who has previously had success with these conversions? Many thanks

I had one that fed very nice. It had a Rem 722 mag box and follower. PA Bear Hunter, NRA Benefactor

Kind of a pity as the 22H was quite rare in pre64 and it is certainly a novelty. I'm sure there was a good reason but still... sorry I added no value.

You might check with Griffin & Howe. Back when the .222 first appeared they used to advertise that conversion in the American Rifleman.
