Jeff,

The Italian recievers are top notch, in my opinion. As good or better than some of the U.S. made receivers. If Springfield Armory put it together they will stand behind it.

I have been wanting a Garand for a long time. I checked their home page but didn't see anything about the M1. Does anyone know what these will sell for and when they will be available?

I talked with Springfield Armory several weeks ago and asked that question. They said that they would be producing some rifles after the first of the year. Sorry, can't tell you what the price is, they were not sure at the time either.

Any kind of Garand is hard to find right now. Things went nuts for Battle Rifles after 9/11 and many of the distributors are having trouble keeping anything in stock. Century Arms can't keep up with the demand either.

I had one put together using a "kit" on an original Springfield receiver I got my hands on about a year ago. We black parkerized it and put one of those Boyd's stocks on it. The guy really did a good job. It shoots 2" groups. What a lovely rifle. It will be interesting to see the Springfield price. I read that they were going to put together 10,000 only.

Warning: post contains some BLATANT COMMERCIALISM and some UNITED STATES CITIZEN only content.

1) Please see my classified ad.

2) If you don't want to buy my rifle, and you are a United States citizen, then do yourself a huge whopping favor and go here

www.odcmp.com

to learn how to get your very own, 100% USGI Garand for $500. These are service grade rifles direct from the United States Government.

3) Check out www.jouster.com and www.fultonarmory.com to get good solid information on Garand rifles.

FYI - the $400 Danish Garand I purchased went to a smith for tuning. New Barnett .308 barrel + new Boyd stock + $400 Garand + smith's labor = $900 Garand that shoots 1 1/4 groups with Fed Match. With open GI sights...

Yep - the good old days. I qualified for one back then too, but was shooting smallbore and never sent off for one.

Yet another "if only..."
