Does anyone know where someone could get new aluminum (or other lightweight) bottom metal for a M70? I am thinking of something similar to the bottom metal that came on the pre-64 Featherweights.

Thanks,
Chet

Chet, the newest bottom "metal" offered on the M70 from USRAC is a hybrid... it's "one piece" and all but the actual floorplate is aluminum.

Ask around, I've got an aluminum trigger guard in a box somewhere, they're easy to come by, but the floorplates I have are all steel of some sort (in fact, I've had some Model 70's come with Williams built floorplates). I'm pretty sure that they have used aluminum for their floorplates at one time or another and someone is bound to have one kicking around somewhere.

Brad, that new one piece stuff is awful. It both looks and fits terribly.

Man, isn't that the awful truth... a bean counter's delight but a real abortion in all other respect's. Too bad...
