I have a 742 Rem. in 308 win. The frame is just starting to show wear it has never jammed, yet. Is there anything that can be done to repair or even slow the wear? If so where can I find a good smith I live in southern WV?

I have a 742 in .243 that I picked up for a parts gun.The reciver has a 1/16" wear groove where the bolt rides on the rh side,I look at it once a month and contiplate filling the groove with silver solder, filing down, then re-bluing,or filling it with a metal filled "cold weld" epoxy, since the reciver only provides a place for the bolt to ride.

Mine is no where near 1/16th deep just starting to show the five little grooves. The gun shoots wonderful and would like to be able to go to the woods and not worry about a malfunction. I have been told that lighter loads would slow the wear but I can not see how since the bolt still has to cycle just like any other time.
