OK, this has bugged me for at least a couple years. Is this, or is it not a Savage stocked by Fisher? I don't know another action that looks like that but I don't know a lot anyway.

If it is, I guess its the exception that makes "no custom Savages" a rule?

Its been for sale at Thad Scott's for ever.

Looks like a savage to me.

Not that I'ma fan of them, but ditched the barrel ring and cleaned up pretty good, shilen barrel and etc and it made a decent gun.

I'd guess thats what has been done to that one.

You going to buy it.........hell you buy everything else, might as well....... Smiler

Nope, not that one. I have one Savage bolt gun in the safe now just so folks don't call me a bigot.

Did you try to call me yesterday? BTW, got wonderful complements on the blank from the place that's turning it.

Tiggertate, print the photo, send it to Jerry A. Fisher, 533 Crane Mt. Rd., Big Fork, MT 59911, and ask him if he made the rifle. Enclose a prestamped return envelope. And let us know what he says !!

Don't know if that is indeed a Fisher (would be interesting to see the shape of the fleur on the checkering), but the fact that it's a Savage wouldn't necessarily have precluded Jerry from stocking it.

Al Bisen stocked them. There's a picture of one he did in O'Connor's The Rifle Book. (1964 edition)

I don't think Thad Scott would advertise it as Fisher's work without some certainty. There are several more pictures of it on his site for the curious. Vigillinus, I hate to bother someone like that unless I were actually thinking of buying it. Good idea, otherwise.

I take it the consensus is that this is indeed a Savage? I was primarily tring to find out if there were an action out there that I didn't know about.

Don't think there is any question that this is a Savage action. Sure looks like mine.

Tig, Jerry is used to queries like that as long as you don't bug him up with telephone time. It is the only definitive way to settle the issue.
By the way I am sending you a PM about a different matter.

GrandView (or anyone else):

Could you please scan and post (or e-mail to questioneer@hotmail.com ) the photo of the Biesen Savage? I think I have seen it in one of the older editions of The Rifle Book, but the only edition I can lay my hands on right now is a 1970's paperback which is missing that picture.

As to the rifle pictured here, it is undoubtedly a Savage, though it looks to have been barrelled without the barrel nut.
