Possible to rebore from 8x57 to 9.3x62
I checked at the JES site but didn't see this option specifically listed. Is there enough meet to do this? The barrel is a standard military mauser 98 in 8x57 Mauser. The bore difference in .043" will that clean up?

I've seen some 8mm Mausers with .320" groove diameters. But, even with that, the smallest diameter at the top of the grooves in the 9.3 should be at least .358". So unless you are starting out with a severely corroded barrel, it should be fine.

I spoke to Jesse last week and he told me he no longer rebores military barrels due to too many issues with barrel quality. I was trying to get an 8x57 rebored to 9.3.

Barrel quality is a bigger deal than most people think.

Why would you want to use a standard military barrel configuration to go to 9.3. It would be very light even if someone would do it.
Get a new barrel.
I use only Douglas and they shoot superbly.

That must have been very recent because I had a 30-40 Krag barrel rebored to 35 caliber last year.

I said standard military mauser but should have specified standard military mauser contour with full rib and two leaf site and barrel mounted swivel. It is a nice looking barrel. I too am a Douglas barrel fan.

Most of those older MAUSER ribbed brrels are thin in deed, mic your barrel crown and repost..for accurate
