Hell, if it were up to me I would pull all US business out of Canada. That would be a hoot. Those self righteous Canucks would starve! Afterall, the USA finances over 90% of the Canadian economy! Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Never have cared much for the leftist Canadian ideology.

Sorry to hear you guys feel that way. It wouldn't bother me to see business interupted either. I'm tired of paying up to four times more than you do, for our products that you take for granted. The last thing that would happen is us starving. We have all the essentials to be self sufficient. Food, shelter, fresh air and water. Our country is rich in minerals, gas, oil ,lumber, fisheries, livestock & agriculture. We generate hydro, manufacture autos, steel, textiles, pulp, paper and could easily expand, if we were given the tax consessions alotted to non-resident industry. The land is rich and productive and our people resourcefull. This summer, major US cities were buying up our pharmacutical products at up to a 480% savings over the cost of US product, with a forty % stronger dollar, making it difficult,if not impossible to fill our prescriptions. Maybe the US finances 90% of our economy, but I,m sure our products are welcome in other parts. I think you are fortunate to be supplied with all of the imports, conveniently close and at rates much lower than we have to pay ourselves. You seem to think you are feeding us, but it is the other way around. Look who's callin who self righteous, that's a hoot. I can still hear G Bush stating "we need Canada's water, if they won't give it to us, we'll take it". I understand your feelings toward our gov. I'm embarrassed every time JC opens his mouth, but he did not refuse to give your country support. He wanted approval from UN and we have made monatary contributions. Our troops are still in Afganistan and some Slavic countries which left precious little to draw from. Besides, that war was started under false pretenses. There are no weapons of mass destruction, but there are oil wells capable of millions of gallons per day at a production cost of two us dollars a barrel. The cost to produce your own wells is ten bucks a barrel and your wells only average 17 barrels a day. France and other countries had contracts for opening up new fields in Iraq, so through the media it is easy to paint a picture, and go exploit it. Not only that, with all the new tech. capabilities, the stockpiled arms and ammunitions have to be used to make room for new advancments and stimulate your economy, and strenghten positions in the east, imo.Don't get me wrong, there shouldn't be room for the Saddams and Bin ladens in the world, but full scale war didn't eliminate them. I'd bet a handfull of good men could have, but that don't generate dollars. I wouldn't boycott Winchester, but I will not buy anymore and have sold my model 70s, just because Sako, Steyr,PGW (next purchase)get it right the first time. Haven't tried the new CFR Wins, but the others I've owned were 2to3 MOA. My 270 Steyr, 23yrs old, shoots to 1/2MOA out to 660 yrds, which is as far as I've tried do far.My Rems shoot 1" or better and Sako beats that by a good margin. Just think, if the US cut ties with us, we might even get a moose draw sooner than 4-6 yrs. Some areas longer, but the guides get lots of licsenses every year. Your congress keeps coming up with tariffs and surcharges that are hurting our economy and well being. eg.soft woods =34%, wheat 2% beef= cancelled. Pull your companies, it's time we got a break.
If neighbors can't be freinds, it is unfortunate, but life does go on .
Sorry for junking up the gunsmith site, but came hear for info and got slammed.
I'm weighing in late, but I was a small time country gunsmith for about 15 years and never got a Win 70 across my bench for mechanical problems. Saw a bunch of Remington 700s, mostly for triggers and safeties. Had one or two extractors to replace and a half dozen or so bolt handles to silver solder back on. Saw a bunch of Rugers, mostly for bad chambers. Replaced a few extractors on Savages.
Me, I mostly shoot Mausers. No problems and they last forever. Wish I had laid aside some Rem 788s when I had the chance. To my mind, they were better rifles, that unfortunate mag aside, than the 700.
