I am planning on having my model 70 rebarreled with a krieger barrel as well as having the action trued and smoothed up.I have heard Mark Penrod is a good Winchester smith.I`d like to know if anyone here has any actual experiance with Mr. Penrod and could you share your results? The reason I ask is that my last rebarrel work with another `smith wasn`t up to expectations and I`d like references this time thank you in advance
Mark "did" my LH Model 70 375HH. He installed PME extractor and feeding spring, squared/trued the action, set the barrel back one turn, and free-floated/pillarbedded the stock. He also mounted the Leupold scope in Talley mounts and did the trigger job. There was a problem with the trueness of the action, so he had to mill the Talley's to get them to line up and give me full adjustment of the scope. End result? It now shoots into one ragged hole. I'd rate his work a "10", and highly recommend him to anyone. Jeff

I've had Mark do some work for me, although just to go through a rifle that I was having some accuracy problems with. I found his work very good and he was a pleasure to deal with. I'll use him again and recommend him whenever I can.
Take Care,
-Steve

Mark has done some work for me over the years and he is top class. Very professional and nice guy that gets work done in a timely fashion.
NitroExpress- Allen has taken a break from posting on most if not all forums. This all started with a very personal attack on him by another forum member. No one needs such BS and that thread is a good example of why most people eventually leave the cyber world of hunting, taking a lot of knowledge and experience with them.

John, it is too bad that things like that need to happen. I miss Allen's posts and wish he would return. This sport we participate in is a lot of fun, but because of its nature can also be a matter of life or death and should be taken very seriously and passionately (hence the strong opinions).
It would be very interesting to me to have some of the conversations that are had across the web around the table or in a camp somewhere. Opinions would still reign and debates would abound but offences would not be taken and personal attacks wouldn't exist. Its to easy to attack someone we aren't looking at and don't personally know.
Anyway, debates are great and make things interesting and I hope to see many more floating around in this cyber space. Can you imagine what would have happened if Jack O'Connor and Elmer Keith got a hold of each other on one of these forums .
