The extractor on my Sako and Tikka are red, sort of a patina color. Just out of curiosity, do they just have to be applied in this finish because they are some kind of special alloy that will need protection from rust but cannot be blued?

How is that red finish applied?

That's the color high nickle steel turns when you try to blue it. Don't worry about it and protect it like you do blue.......just a hint of oil.

JBelk,

When I saw there's one reply to this thread, I had a hunch that you'll be the one who has the knowledge and answers it. And I was right. Thanks again.

I looked at mine and didn't see the color you're talking about. Then I realized mine are stainless. [Big Grin]
