Anyone know how high of heat the Black Max Loctite will stand?

I have a barrel band glued on with it and am thinking about Cerakoating the barrel and action. Cerakoat requires a 250 to 350 degree bake for and hour or two.

I don't know how hot rust blue gets, but it holds at that temp.

Working temps for hot salt blues run from 285 on up to 315 depending on the salts used and the alloy of the steel.

Thanks, I found that PDF and looks like strength shouldn't be hurt. Now I wonder if there will be anything weeping out of the seam to muck up the coating job.

One way to find out, I guess.

Why not remove the sight, do the Ceracote, and glue 'er back on afterwards?

I need some info on how much working time you have with Loctite Black Max 380? I have a tube and am afraid to open it and try it.

I want to reinforce a screw on Williams ramp. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to align the screws and then to get the screwdriver blade on them and get them in. I would like to put a bead on the ramp and also coat the screws, individually if necessary, and screw the ramp on.

Hot blue and rust blue are two different things. I don't think rust blue would raise the temmperature above boiling point of water.

You're right Jim, I meant to say hot salt blues. Thanks for the correction.

If I take it off, I'll solder it back on and the Loctite won't be an issue.

I am happy to report that I reinforced my Wiliams "screw on" ramp installation with Black Max 380 on the ramp and screw with success. Working time wasn't an issue, thanks in part to Brownell's Magn Tip!
