I am in the process of rebarreling one of my Mauser actions, a Parker Hale commercial 98 actions. I am wanting to change out the Redfield mount that it has worn for 15 years to something a little more streamlined and sexy but I am having problems finding what I like. Does anyone make an off the shelf mount like these (hand fitting ok)? Thanks, Tony

You will want to look into S & K "sculptured" bases and rings, available through Brownells, good stuff!

Yes, someone makes them; just had a customer send me a set. They are quite expensive though. I will look to see who made them.
I don't know of any firm who is mass producing them though; pretty much one offs or hand jobs I think..
Check the Recknagel catalog too.

I have looked at the S & K mounts, pretty nice looking but not exactly what I am looking for. A few years ago I remember someone selling the mounts like in the pictures, machined for Talley rings, they had made dozens of sets, selling them on Gunbroker or Ebay, etc. Should have grabbed a couple sets then. I would think someone still has some of these laying around or still is making short runs of these.

I have done quite a number of bases for mostly M70's and Mausers to fit the Talley rings. They are finished n the action making the alignment excellent.
