Cross bolts/glass bedding

I removed the bbl/action of my CZ 550 to send in for rechambering to 9.3x64 (originally 62) and found two recoil lugs, one on the bbl and the other on the action. The stock has two cross bolts but shows no sign of glass bedding by the factory. There is some sort of plate in the stock behind the action recoil lug. Will the recoil of the 64 be appreciably more than the 62? Should I go ahead and bed both lugs and the tang? Thanks, Cobalt

Cobalt,

Hopefully oneshot will speak up, he is rebedding one right now. I'd like to know how it's going. Check out: http://www.serveroptions.com/ubb/Forum5/HTML/001266.html to see a recent discussion.

I'd bed all of it.

Don G,
Thanks for the reply. The bbl lug on my 550 is a bit different than on the .375's. The lug is dove tailed into the bottom of the bbl with no screw threads for a third action screw. Just the action lug screw and the tang screw. From the earlier string, sounds like I should bed both lugs and leave it at that. Thanks, Cobalt

I'd bed the whole thing up to the front of the barrel lug. I'd put a layer of tape on the bottom and front of both lugs so it would have clearance for heat expansion and removal. Just bury that metal clip in the bedding.

Make sure you have relief on all aft-facing sides and edges around the tang to prevent splitting.
