Has any one done a 300 or 270 wsm in 6.5 (necked down that is), how much of a gain was there from the standed and what did you use and why. Cheers

He has two lines of cartridges using the .348 Win case with the rim removed and made rimless, which is the case that Winchester used to "design" (copy?) the .300 WSM. The .348 Win in turn was based on the .50-110 -- a black powder case.

In the shorter case line is a 6.5.

The Handloaders Manual of Cartridge Conversions by John Donnelly has a page on the 6.5 X 300 win mag. It is like a lengthened .264 Win mag.
