My co-workere inhereited a win model 100 .308,
Hes had the magazine drop out inadvertanely several times, sometimes after firing, sometimes walking through the woods.

Inspecting it there does not seem to be anything out of the ordingary, a little slop about 1/8" when the magazine is inserted, but the magazine catch seems stiff without the magazine in place. Is there any common problems associated with this Model?

I'm thinking he is just inadvertanily hitting the mag release since its in front of the magazine.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience with Model 100's

Heard that about Remington 742's but not the Winchesters. Borrow a mag from somebody just to compare the fit; I would suspect someone altered the original one.

Thanks Jim,

He only has the one mag and proably won't even have that if he doesn't notice when it falls out next,...I suggested he get an after market mag one so he has a spare and two to see if there is any wear from the original. Not my decision to make though,...

Personally I always buy an extra magazine for any rifle of mine that uses one!
