I already own a Sako Stainless varminter in 6PPC. I baught the gun looking for somthing like a .222 or .223 without going to the .243win. Now that I have the .243 the 6PPC is virtually usless as I am not a benchrest competitor. Should it cost me less to have the 6PPC re-barreled/chambered to 22 or just trade the gun in for a new one? I suppose it may depend on how your dealer will treat you but what's the general opionin here?

Unless there is something wrong with the present barrel you are in essence throwing it away if you replace it. Of course if you can sell that barrel after it's removed then some of it's value will be recovered but not it's installation value. But trading can cost money if a dealer takes his 30% too. Perhaps you can sell it yourself and save that commission. Before I sold the 6MM PPC I would try it with 55 gr Nosler bullets. Do you handload?
