I have a Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless Steel in 375 H&H Mag. I've never been able to warm up to synthetic stocks and this is the first rifle I've had with one and yeah it's durable and all that but I still don't like it, to make a long story short I bought a Winchester factory Safari stock to drop the whole thing into, it is a perfect fit everywhere except the bottom metal close to the trigger guard doesn't quite cover the magazine opening in the wood. What bottom metal do I need and can I get it in stainless?

I think the whole set-up looks great stainless with the nice wood and all but I hope I can solve this bottom metal issue. Also I would like some nice sights to put on it as I think the ones it came with are quite ugly, any sights in stainless? (Safari / express style).

Thanks for all your help and opinions and Merry Christmas!...........

If I am not mistaken, your stock requires the 1 piece bottom metal that Winchester is using on some of their models. It is made by Williams and is for sale through http://www.midwayusa.com

Here is a link to it.

Thanks for the link, that looks like it is just what I need but wow that is as much or more as I paid for the stock!
Any cheaper alternatives, I could spend the $180 but just checking if there is another brand?

How about any suggestions on stainless sights for this project, or nice looking matte black sights?

I hate to tell you this, but that is your only choice.

Take a look at the NECG sight. They are very nice.
