Who besides CZ, Millet, and Warne make rings for the CZ550's? I am looking for some low rings--not QD--for one of my 270's. Thanks!

Good Hunting,

I know this does not answer your question but I have cz rings on my .416 & warne fixed on my .585 and have nodramas to date. I do not think you would go far wrong with either type. There low enough for me to while providing clearance for the bolt handle.

PC,
Thanks for your reply. I have the rings that came with the rifle and they are WAY too high. I want to put a Vari-X II 3x9 (40mm obj) and I don't need a lot of clearance.

Talley makes great rings for that rifle. They make both quick-detach and non-quick-detach versions, your choice.

Just stay away from the Millett. They are no good on a CZ or anything else but a rimfire. I just use the medium Warne or the factory rings and grin and bear it. Talley sounds interesting but I don't know about their height, and as PC pointed out scope clearance of the bolt handle seems to be a problem with the CZ 550 and low rings. Maybe one of these days some Talley's for the CZ.

I have Warnes on both my CZ's, 9.3x64 and 7x64. Both have Leupolds with 40mm objectives. Cobalt

I have Talley medium (lowest they offer) rings on my 550 American. Pricey, but, really a substantial, quality setup. Bolt clearance with Redfield 2-7 Widefield (wide eyepiece) is minimal, but, it works.

The factory CZ rings were REALLY heavy, but the main reason I wanted something else is they were so high that I had to pull my cheek off the stock to look through the scope. According to the guy at The Gun Shop, they are CZ's medium setup. I can't imagine what the high ones would be like, although Pygmy says he uses the space under the scope to store his lunch. I'd imagine a Whopper or Big Mac would fit in there.

DON'T USE MILLETT's, unless the gun is a really low-recoil caliber. Initially, I had Millett's on mine, a 9.3x62, and, the tab on the rear ring is too small for the notch in the base, allowing the rings to move around. Doubt if that will help accuracy any.

Anybody looking for a set of Millett rings for a CZ550. Cheap [Smile]

If you go the big bores forum there is a pic of my .416 Rigby under "Pic's of PC's .416 Rigby" there is a clos=up of the action I think which will show you what CZ mounts look like.
