Does anyone have a web address for information on using fiberglass over blue foam? I am continuing the development for my daughters light weight stock. Any other ideas on materials to use for her 22lr target gun ?

Kazoo,As far as I know polyester rosin[fiberglass] eats all foam I have tried. Now I have not tried the blue,It may work? What I would do though is use epoxy. It does not eat any foam,It is stronger, works the same and it dosent stink.Heck they are making homebuilt airplanes with white foam amd layer of epoxy.I have been using "West System" products for all my bedding work for last 5 years.I tint it with powdered poster paint. They also have a good tech suport online.

And we can suport a Michigan company to boot

You could try surfboard foam. I have used it and it is light dense and easy to shape. It holds glass resin and kevlar not to mention graphite ( carbon fibre) filament. You can also reinforce it with carbon fibre rods for magnum calibres It takes well to aluminium if the alloy is roughened up and of course it has no problem with moisture.

Thanks for the info everyone. I will be using both Aluminum for the hand stop rail and adjustable butt plate. It will be a short stock and want to keep it light. I'll search the other areas.

The information from the glass over foam aircraft builders is about as good as you are going to get. Try Aircraft Spruce and Specialty for both a source of information, as well as materials. They offer both types of glass, graphite and kevlar. And a good variety of foam materials and densities. They also offer different epoxy and polyester systems as well.
