I'm planning a new project and trying to decide on a stock for it. I have one H-S stock on another gun, and I'm plenty pleased with it. I'd like to go with McMillan, but they're a little too pricey right now. Does anyone have any thoughts on the B&C Medalist stock? If memory serves, the B&C is not too much less $ than the HS. If you were to pick one of the two, which would it be?

Thanks for your thoughts. Gib

If cost is a primary concern, look to Corelite from Battenfeld.

Normall I use McMillan or Rimrock......but there are times.....you know!!!!

Gib- I checked the B&C site to see what the Medalists look like. I like the design, especially with the cheek piece. I'd say go ahead if you aren't set on a FIBERGLASS stock. Plus, they are right in Dodge, so dealing with B&C should be a piece of cake! Wyo

I have the one with the bedding block. It took alot of fitting compared to my HSs the action did not fit squarely. The bolt hit the comb of the stock (slightly) enough to remove paint. B/C was great, they were going to stand behind it. Minor sanding and some glass bed (IMO all stocks with the aluminum block need to be skim bedded) Stock feels nice checkering is good, Identical in dimensions as my HS sporter weight. Fore arm is about an 1inch shorter so it would not look right if you used a barrel over 24 inches. I would buy another, a little more work than an HS but a good deal cheaper 40-50 bucks I think. It works just as good just not quite as drop in as HS. If you are real handing you can get an unfinshed Basner Ulimate stock, fiber glass. comes inletted. You have to fill, prime paint (15 bucks) bed and install the pad. They are going for around 150.00 in Brownells just a thought I am looking at these right now.
