Mauser chambering help

I've chambered a lot of barrels, but this is my first Mauser. Does the headspace guage protrude from the bottom of the tenon the same amount as the difference between the measurement of the bolt face and the Cring that the tenon bottoms out on. I hope that I am saying this right. This being the full ribbed barrel that Jim Dubell bored and rifled to 9.3 leaves me no room for mistakes. I indexed the barrel OK to the rib, but the shoulder on the old barrel is paper thin and lets me use the bottom of the tenon only. I sure don't want to scrap this barrel.
Thanks Butch

It's the same as any other rifle with the exception that on the mauser, the measurement will be taken from the surface you are torquing to. If you are torquing to the "C" ring, start by taking a measurement from the square face of the receiver to the "C" ring, and then take a measurement from the square face of the receiver to the bolt face. The difference is the amount of protrusion you will need to set the headspace. Does that make sense?

Thanks Malm,
That is what I was trying to say. I just can't afford to scrap the barrel. Thanks again for the confirmation.

Butch:

Good morning, I always do the mating of the barrel tendon shoulder/c-ring first. Then I chamber the barrel to headspace of distance between the bolt face and the shoulder datum line. Get one right then do the other.
