I looked for quite a while and ended up just buying a new rifle at a gun show because it was just as inexpensive as most of the beaters at pawn shops.

I know it sounds stupid, but I have found it cheapest to buy the entire rifle , use the action and sell off the unused parts if you want a new action. If a new ADL is $380 then you can sell the barrel for $20 and maybe the stock for $20 and the price lowers to $340 and that is hard to beat.

I always look for beaters at gun shows and try to pay no more than $250 for them. I then take the gun apart and use the Rem action for good projects and the barrels for Turkingtons.-Rob
