Mauser Safety...stuck
Same Yugo Mauser I am working with. It has the standard type military safety which is stuck in the left or fire position. Bolt works fine, trigger works fine. I cannot move the safety at all. How do I un-stick-it? To my knowledge, safety needs to move to the middle, or straight up position for bolt disassembly.

i use a hard wooden EDGE... remove the bolt, and hooking the cocking piece in it, pull the bolt forward, allowing me to either flip up the safety, or slip in a dime..

careful, this is a great opprotunity to bark your knuckles or hits yourself

Make sure the gun is unloaded then cock the bolt. You cannot moved the safety to the middle or right positions if it is not cocked.

If that doesn't work, then I find a shoelace works beeter than a hard wood edge, keeps the wife from getting PO'd too. Mostly I'd just grad the bottom flats of the CP in a vice and pull back until I can set the safety.

Notice that when you raise the bolt handle
when the bolt is closed that the rear end
(cocking piece) will be pulled back on the
bolt showing that the gun is cocked.
Often times this cocking piece needs to come
back another small distance to allow
the safety to work. What I do is take
a file and create a ramp on the safety
piece to engage the top of the barrel of
the cocking piece. I also file a small 45
degree angle on the front top edge of the
cocking piece where the safety engages it.
That will solve all your problems.
