I have a TIkka M595 action
(whitetail hunter .308) and McMillan says they can make a a drop-in stock for me for 393$.

Has anyone has any negative experiences with McMillan. I realize no one can please everyone. I have heard/read mostly good things about Mcmillan...

Any input you can give me would be appreciated as I have never bought an aftermarket stock before.

Anyone specific I should deal with there? I have called twice and spoke to 2 different women and one told me I need to send in the barreled action and one said that I did not need to because they have that model already...

I dont want to have to do any work on the gun when I get it besaide screw it in.

I have bought and used a number of McMillan stocks and have found them very good. The only adverse comment I can make is on delivery time. It has been running up to 22 weeks! Ask for a fella named Dick Davis in the custom shop.

Dick Davis at McMillan is a nice guy that have the title quality manager or something like that. He know what hes talking about and will tell you everything you need to know about the stocks, bedding etc.

McMillan says that their stocks CAN be used without bedding (drop in) but trongly recomend bedding of the action. There is one or two guys at McMillan that mostly do bedding jobs and I they do exellent jobs! They have done LOTS of bedding jobs and its a threat to watch them bed an action. Everything goes effortless and smooth and the result is perfect.

The only possible bad to say could be the possably long delivery time.....

Stefan.

Another thing they told me on the phone is that they recommend a drop-in first and if it doesnt shoot like you want it too only then do you need to bed it....
