Anyone know the mag. box length of the tang M77 Ruger SA? I'm thiking of a 6.5x.284 & want to get close to 3.0 LOA.

I don't have a SA M77 but was asking questions about making a 6.5-284 out of a little used Rem Model 600. When all is said and done, you could but the bullets would have to be seated pretty deep. You'd probably be better off with a std length.

It's about 2.9". I think the M70 SA is 3" and the Montana 3.15".

Thanks South. Bignate, I just got ym M700SA back from rebarelling to .260AI. I'm glad I didn't try to squeeze a 6.5x.284 in that platform. This would be a lt.wt. hunting rig so maybe a M700LA would be lighter than a M70SA. Things to think about.
