Hi Folks, Does the Post 64CRF Model 70s chambered for long - magnum length cartridges -(i.e. .375 H& H or in my case the the .300RUM) use the same stock as other long -action variants of the Model 70 or do you run into magazine size, length problems. Thanks for the help, HBB

I'm not sure on your question, but I hope they had the good sense to use a longer mag. I run out of room in the mag before I can reach the lands in my M70 .338 with plain "un-sleek" Hornady soft points.

They use the same stock inletting for all the standard or long action Model 70's. The 300 RUM stock is the same as a .375 H&H stock. The magazine box is the same except that windows are cut in the sides to give a little more room for the 300 RUM shoulders. The 300 WinMag and .458 WinMag would use the same stock as the 300 RUM, but the box has a spacer at it's rear for the shorter cartridge gun.

The standard mag 70 is shorter than the 375. Log on to the Winchester site and find their parts catalog and look up stocks. That should clarify the difference.

The action size is the same for the standard length cartridges (30-06, 338 mag, etc) is the same as the full sized magnum (375 H&H, 300 RUM, etc). The only difference between them are the magazines, bolt stops, and cutout for the ejection port. A stock for the standard length action is the same as one for the magnum action because the external dimensions are the same.
