Is it feasible to re-barrel a .177 to a .20? I have a chance to buy a quality .177 air rifle fairly cheap, but I have all the .177's that I need, and would like to know if it's feasible/practical to have a .20 barrel put on it.

I have a friend here in Fairbanks who switches barrels and calibers on quite a few air rifles and has had great results.

It depends on what you are working with. I know that some RWS and FWB air rifles can be rebarreled. Try asking http://www.pilkguns.com/ and/or http://www.umarexusa.com/. Not sure if Umarex does gunsmithing, but I know Pilkguns does. There are others. I think most are using Walther barrels. Find some of the many air gun forums and ask around. Depending on what you have, it would most likely be cheaper to sell it and get another in the caliber you want, but that shouldn't stop you.

It's a Webley Patriot, and I would have 4 of them in different calibers if I did this. Webley doesn't make a .20. I live close to the original Bass Pro shop, and they have excellent gunsmiths there. Just not wanting to look like a fool with this idea

I would not recommend using the smiths at Bass Pro if you want to be sure of a good job. I'm sure they could probably get a barrel off and on, but in my opinion this is a job for a specialist air gun smith. Lots of little intangibles and differences between an air rifle and CF or RF. I think the barrel has to be reamed for the "chamber" as well. Good luck.

You might call Pyramid Air and see if they have a recommendation.
