CZ 550 458 wm to 458 Lott ?
Other than having to ream the chamber for the longer round, are there other things that will need to be done to the rifle in oreder to make it a reliable conversion ?

Does anyone know if the barrel has to be removed on a CZ 550 in order to ream the chamber out from 458 WM to 458 Lott ?

With the amount of lenght in the difference of the two cartridges,it would be advisable to have the barrel set up in a lathe,to be sure of haing everything centered. Sometimes, a hand reamer with an action arbor extension will work, but i wouldn,t advise it on a project like this. One could get an egg shaped chamber real easy.Better being safe than sorry. van

Have to be? Probably not. Should be? Probably yes.

I've actually had a similar conversion made without barrel removal. Did it work yes. Did I always wonder if I should have had it removed. YES! All others have been barrel removed. Period.

As usual just my $.02

I talked to the gunsmith that will be doing the work and he will be removing the barrel. Thanks for the info.

Jesus! I did the whole friggin deal in less than 30 minutes! And it doesn't take a gunsmith, or barrel removal. Just rent a hand reamer and you can do it yourself. Now they have the reamers that will not cut into the belt which makes it so simpler than when I did it.

It came out more concentric than the 458 WM chambering from the factory!
