I have a copy of an article written by Jack Belk on Bedding for Accuracy. I found it interesting. It is too long to post put I would be happy to email copies. Send me an email to "ramrod340@hotmail.com" and I'll reply with the article.

As usual just my $.02

molar 1,i'll tell ya.remove the guard screws and free the action from the stock.put the compound on the stock where the action was and most importantly in the recoil lug recess.now screw the action back on but not very tight.let stand for 2 days.now check to see barrel is free floatin up to the chamber.if it isn't sand the wood that is touching the barrel.fire the first round offhand standing on one leg

What you have done with this method is inducing stress to the action by not having the barrel free floated first. This is exactly the reason you would want to bed in the first place.
